The former Swedish warehouse, which rises out of the water on poles, serves as a museum in which the history of the Elbe-Weser region is splendidly presented.

This brick building is 441 m long, 16 m wide and almost 20 m high. Two complete storeys and three attic floors rest on its one-metre thick walls.

The Swedish Warehouse, the regional museum for culture and history, has exhibits on four floors. On the third floor there is an exhibition of tin figures. Below this, on the second floor we find the archaeological collection from the Neolithic Age to the Iron Age with the title "Ways, Wares and Wanderings", one storey further down you can visit the historical exhibition about the town and its surroundings both in the Middle Ages and in modern times. On the ground floor constantly changing exhibitions about art and history are shown.
